O-ring condition is the single biggest factor in whether a housing actually stays sealed. Inspect for grit, hair, or flattening before every session, and follow the manufacturer's recommended re-greasing and service interval. Depth ratings describe the housing under ideal, well-maintained conditions -- not a guarantee against flooding.
